About The Position

The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support its financial systems modernization initiative as part of the Florida PALM Project. The role focuses on transforming large-scale financial and operational data into actionable dashboards, reports, and decision-support solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in: Microsoft Power BI development, Financial reporting and analytics, IBM DB2 databases, SQL and data transformation, and Enterprise reporting environments.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Technology, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree requirement)
Minimum 3 years of Business Intelligence experience
At least 2 years of hands-on Microsoft Power BI development experience
Experience working with IBM DB2 databases
Strong SQL and data modeling skills
Experience building financial dashboards and analytical reports
Microsoft Power BI dashboard and report development
Paginated reports in Power BI
SQL and T-SQL query development
Data governance and data management best practices
Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, and Operational Data Stores
OLAP cubes and Star/Snowflake schema concepts
Multi-source data integration
Financial reporting and ERP-related analytics
Power BI integrations with: Power Automate, Power Apps, Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint
SCRUM/Agile methodology knowledge
Analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

Analyze existing data environments and identify transformation requirements prior to dashboard development
Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and paginated reports
Collaborate with business users and leadership to create a strategic reporting roadmap
Convert legacy WebFOCUS and Mainframe FOCUS queries into T-SQL
Automate data preparation and reporting processes to reduce manual Excel-based analysis
Create Power BI dataflows and support enterprise reporting architecture
Work with DBAs to develop database views and stored procedures
Analyze financial datasets and recommend improvements to data models
Administer Power BI workspaces and reporting environments
Train business users and finance teams on Power BI reporting tools and dashboards
