About The Position

Bitwise is a leading provider of mission-focused intelligence solutions that advance national security for the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. We're a small and growing company, so you can expect to hop in on the ground floor with us and be a consequential member of the team. You'll be more than a contract performer for us — you'll also be asked for ideas to improve our company and improve your career, and you'll contribute to our team culture. We value growth and community above almost all else, so we gather regularly for game nights, happy hours, tech talks, and plenty more. We think you'll like it here! Remember, Bitwise is not a cult. Bitwise hires talented engineers who are driven by purpose and who value a culture of technical excellence, growth, and overall wellness. We deliver new and innovative intelligence solutions to our customers at the very forefront of our country's national security missions. And we do it every single day. Our work matters, and so will you. You will join a team breaking new ground in AI-assisted tools for reverse engineering and software development. We're looking for a Software Engineer with a solid foundation in Linux, software development, and familiarity with reverse engineering to help evolve how reverse engineers work — combining binary analysis, disassembly, and workflow optimization with emerging AI techniques.

Requirements

  • An active TS//SCI clearance with polygraph is required for this role
  • 6 years of experience as a Software Engineer, OR a Master's degree in a technical discipline with 4 years of experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 4 additional years of experience
  • Hands-on experience with reverse engineering tools such as Ghidra or IDA Pro
  • Strong understanding of low-level concepts: Linux file formats, assembly, binaries, memory, and calling conventions
  • Curiosity about AI/LLMs and some hands-on dabbling — you're ready to deepen that skill set on the job
  • Experience developing tools, scripts, or plugins for analysis workflows
  • Proficiency in at least one reverse engineering-relevant scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++, etc.)
  • Ability to prototype, evaluate, and refine experimental tooling
  • Proficiency with Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence)

Nice To Haves

  • Reverse engineering Linux-based network devices or embedded systems
  • Reverse engineering network traffic and web applications
  • Familiarity with firmware analysis, bootloaders, and networking protocols
  • Experience applying automation or AI to reverse engineering tasks
  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks or orchestration systems
  • Experience with additional programming languages (Java, C)
  • Analyzing cyber security-related data sets (network traffic, OS events)
  • Knowledge of end-to-end SIGINT collection and analysis systems
  • Experience with production CNO capabilities and operations

Responsibilities

  • Design and build tooling enhancements for reverse engineering workflows
  • Experiment with autonomous or semi-autonomous agents to support development
  • Automate common reverse engineering tasks, including analysis and documentation
  • Apply AI-assisted techniques to binary analysis, annotation, and pattern identification
  • Work directly with customers and teammates to shape and refine solutions
  • Measure and document the effectiveness of tooling improvements
  • Grow your AI/LLM expertise along the way as you prototype, evaluate, and refine experimental tooling

Benefits

  • Pick your PTO — Everyone values time and money differently, so we give you the flexibility to choose between 3 and 5 weeks of PTO with a corresponding adjustment to your pay.
  • All 11 federal holidays, paid!
  • Up to 2 snow days, paid!

  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances.
  • $5,250 annual education assistance for training, certifications, tuition, and even student loan repayments.
  • Spot bonuses for obtained certifications, customer recognition, and just about anything else that makes us go "Hot damn!".
  • Flex income
