About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Application Architect with strong business analysis and project management expertise. This role will focus on evaluating approximately 20 custom applications, analyzing their functionality, and recommending modernization or replacement strategies. This is a part-time opportunity requiring close collaboration with business users and stakeholders, along with the ability to work independently on a flexible schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of experience in: Business analysis and requirements gathering, Application architecture and solution design, Project planning, coordination, and delivery
  • Strong experience evaluating and modernizing legacy applications
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent documentation, presentation, and workshop facilitation skills
  • Experience working directly with business units to understand processes and strategy
  • Ability to manage scope, risks, timelines, and deliverables

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in government or public sector environments
  • Familiarity with application portfolio assessment and modernization strategies

Responsibilities

  • Assess and document functionality of existing custom applications (primarily C# with SQL backend)
  • Analyze business requirements and align them with application capabilities
  • Research and recommend replacement or modernization options for legacy systems
  • Lead workshops and facilitate discussions with stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Develop detailed documentation, reports, and executive presentations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for application assessment efforts
  • Coordinate work estimates, planning, and design activities
  • Direct and guide the work of a Business Analyst
  • Ensure solutions align with business goals, technical requirements, and project scope
  • Collaborate with business units to understand processes and define software direction
