About The Position

Under the direction of the Warehouse/Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing food service (kitchen) related equipment throughout Lackland Air Force Base and Camp Billis Air Base. The position also involves other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the Warehouse/Maintenance Department, and ensuring the safe condition and operation of all food service (kitchen) systems in dining facilities and offices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Universal EPA Certification for refrigerants
  • Knowledge of commercial food service (kitchen) equipment repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
  • Knowledge in the operation of electrical control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
  • Ability to operate a computer and assigned software
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in the commercial food service (kitchen) equipment and refrigeration maintenance field
  • Plumbing knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of food service (kitchen) and refrigeration systems.
  • Install new food service (kitchen) and refrigeration equipment and systems.
  • Relocate and expand existing food service (kitchen) and refrigeration systems.
  • Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install electrical wiring, controls and piping according to specifications and code.
  • Wire and connect motors, compressors, temperature controls and humidity controls according to wiring schematics.
  • Maintain freon dispensing records to meet federal requirements.
  • Perform plumbing tasks.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all food service (kitchen) and refrigeration equipment, including changing filters and cleaning condensers and coils.
  • Perform all scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning on all food service (kitchen) and refrigeration equipment as needed.
  • Receive and complete work orders.
  • Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
  • Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
  • Maintain inventory of company owned tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Work with building managers/supervisor to complete open work orders.
  • Detect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including but not limited to lifting (pushing/pulling) up to 60 pounds, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, etc.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
