About The Position

The position performs complex administrative support and technical program assistance for the Office of Appeals staff located throughout the state of Texas. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Works under pressure to meet short deadlines and ensure sensitive information is held in strict confidence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of full-time administrative support, general office, clerical, or secretarial experience required.
  • Ability to work in an office supporting telework staff across the State of Texas.
  • Ability to effectively handle and prioritize multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, standard office equipment and software products.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and to demonstrate tact in decision-making.
  • Knowledge of office practices, management, and administrative procedures.
  • Knowledge of IMPACT and other agency database systems.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff at all levels.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills are important.

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative support experience with DFPS is perferred, but not required.
  • Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a single point of contact for the Office of Appeals, answer telephone calls, provide general information to callers and route messages.
  • Data entry into IMPACT, CLASS, and other electronic programs and systems.
  • Submit requests required to maintain office operations including SPARC, purchase orders, and office supplies.
  • Create and maintain electronic filing systems, coordinate and schedule meetings, conferences, and training.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information and prepare and submit correspondence and documents.
  • Route assignments, submit purchase orders, print, copy, scan, and upload documents.
  • Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned required to maintain unit operations.
  • Attend work in accordance with agency leave policy.
