About The Position

The WashU Medicine Orthopedics Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is a paid, one-year, competency-based postgraduate training program for recent physician assistant and nurse practitioner graduates seeking a foundation in orthopedic care. Fellows gain exposure to orthopedic subspecialties and develop clinical decision-making, procedural skills, and professional judgment. The program uses graduated responsibility and increases autonomy as fellows demonstrate competency. Fellows train in an academic orthopedic department alongside experienced APPs, orthopedic surgeons, residents, and fellows, including physicians who care for St. Louis professional sports teams. Clinical experiences include outpatient, inpatient, and peri-operative practice within the BJC Healthcare system. Fellows participate in weekly continuing education sessions and have the opportunity to contribute to a research project. The position is based in a normal office environment and patient care setting.
