About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated new-to-practice nurse practitioner (APN) or physician assistant (PA) looking for an innovative and comprehensive fellowship program. This is a 12-month fellowship designed for new or newer to practice APNs or PAs that are passionate about advancing their clinical and professional practice in a supportive and collaborative environment. This program aims to provide clinical rotations, didactic curriculum and mentorship opportunities in critical care to grow the new to practice provider’s knowledge and confidence in their practice. Program focuses include; preceptor guided clinical practice with focuses on management of the medical critical care patient, neuro-critical care patient and trauma-surgical critical care patient. As well as participation in professional development elements in evidence-based practice, quality and process improvement and high reliability training.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Master's Degree - Nurse Practitioner with Acute Care certification or Physician
  • New Jersey license for Advanced Nurse Practitioner & Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant
  • For Nurse practitioners, must be acute care certified
  • PA NCCPAAHA BLS & ACLS certifications
  • Eligibility for DEA and CDS certificates.
  • Graduate of master's or doctorate degree program
  • Licensed and certified in the state of NJ as an acute care nurse practitioner or physician assistant
  • 2 letters of recommendation from (1) academic from a faculty member (2) professional/clinical from a preceptor or clinical supervisor

Responsibilities

  • APP fellow will provide medical services consistent with the fellow’s education, training and experience level and will be performed under the supervision of a preceptor and collaborating physician.
  • APP fellow will complete a quality, performance or process improvement project and/or research project suitable for publication or presentation.
  • APP fellow will attend all assigned educational events and seminars that have been incorporated into this program.
  • APP fellow will rotate to multiple roles within critical care including medical critical care, neurological critical care and trauma surgical critical care.
  • APP fellow will participate in structured evaluations regarding progress such as but not limited to case study presentations, preceptor and program director performance evaluations, and demonstration.
  • Further employment opportunities with Cooper Health system will depend on successful completion of 12-month fellowship and all associated components and open position availability.
