About The Position

The API Governance Engineer will onboard APIs on the Akana API Platform and establish governance processes for API lifecycle management. This role ensures APIs comply with organizational policies and industry standards. The engineer will assist clients, partners, and internal teams in integrating with the organization's APIs, providing step-by-step guidance during the onboarding process, including authentication setup, API usage, and troubleshooting. They will create and manage onboarding workflows to streamline API integration, develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including technical tutorials, and create API onboarding templates, reference samples, and walkthroughs to simplify implementation. The role also involves acting as a point of contact between external partners and internal teams to address integration challenges and technical issues, managing and provisioning API access credentials, and setting up and configuring authentication mechanisms like OAuth and SAML to ensure secure API access and compliance. Additionally, the engineer will conduct training sessions or workshops for developers, business partners, and internal clients, provide technical support and best practices, assist users in testing API integrations, validate API call performance and reliability, troubleshoot issues, generate onboarding reports, contribute to the design and implementation of onboarding tools, and continuously improve the onboarding approach. The position may also act as a technical scrum master to manage the delivery of user stories and may telecommute.
