About The Position

Yukon Public Schools is seeking passionate, innovative educators to help launch Apex Academy, a new personalized learning option for students in grades 7–12. The primary responsibility is not delivering daily lectures or creating traditional lesson plans, but developing the learner through personalized academic pathways based on the students’ strengths and passions.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Valid Oklahoma teacher certification preferred; multiple grade levels and/or subject levels STRONGLY preferred
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in the use of technology, to include, but not limited to: Learning Management Systems (e.g., Seesaw); Microsoft Office; Adobe; online training or teaching software; and technologies to facilitate engagement and interaction
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively in an project based learning environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively through various communication channels, including video, written, and oral

Responsibilities

  • Guide student learning via an online curriculum platform with a focus on mastery where the program drives the path and the student drives the effort.
  • Help students take ownership of their learning by setting meaningful academic and personal goals while discovering their interests, abilities and strengths.
  • Coach students to develop independence, confidence, curiosity and creativity through individual projects curated around students’ unique interests.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth, learning experiences, and support needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to strengthen instructional practice and program development.
  • Participate in professional learning and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Assist administration in developing/implementing policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Attend and participate in faculty and professional activities.
  • Complete reports and other school related paperwork within time and date requested.
  • Accept the responsibility and arrive punctually for activities and duties as assigned.
  • Serve as a liaison between the student, the parent, and Yukon Public Schools staff.
  • Perform administrative tasks on a daily basis, including: attendance; tracking student grades and progress; managing schedules and meetings; and communicating with school personnel, the student, and parents.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and laws that apply to employees of Yukon Public Schools.
  • Schedule and conduct parent-teacher conferences.
  • Implement strategies that promote digital citizenship and foster a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Participate in IEP/504 meetings on site as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate emotional control, physical health, and personal appearance.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent.
