About The Position

CAPREIT is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their family and manage the Serrano and Key Gardens apartment communities. This role involves ensuring the physical aspects of the community meet established standards and applicable laws through troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing various building systems and components. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining the community's appearance, assisting the Maintenance Supervisor with unit turnovers and preventative maintenance, and supporting office staff with resident interactions.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of apartment maintenance experience
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to respond to on-call emergencies, when needed
• Ability to provide your own basic tools
• Computer literacy skills
• A high school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

• A valid CFC with Type I and II or with Universal certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace individual heating and A/C units, water heaters, appliances, plumbing and electrical systems, asphalt, building interiors and exteriors, drainage systems, remodeling carpentry, and cleaning for the community.
• Respond to and complete service requests in a timely manner, notifying the manager if requests cannot be completed within 24 hours.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures by operating power equipment and tools as recommended and wearing protective equipment when necessary.
• Assist with grounds and housekeeping, removing trash and litter, painting and performing exterior repairs, replacing interior and exterior light bulbs, performing apartment inspections, and any other tasks as needed.
• Prepare vacant apartments for move-in.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure building systems operate efficiently.
• Maintain the inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Distribute notices and interact with residents, prospective residents, and vendors in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
