About The Position

Top Score Education is seeking a part-time, 1-1, in-home high school tutor in Northern Virginia, DC, or Maryland. The ideal candidate will have past experience teaching or tutoring AP US History, with bonus points for experience in AP World or AP European History. This role involves conducting private individual lessons in student homes, developing lesson plans, and maintaining communication with parents and students.

Requirements

Experience tutoring or teaching AP US History and other high school English and history courses.
Bachelor's degree required.
Current or former AP US History classroom teachers are highly encouraged to apply!

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
A weekly commitment of a minimum of 8 teaching hours per week (for example, 1-2 weekday evenings and one weekend day)
Consistent access to a car (work is primarily in students’ homes 1:1) and willingness to drive up to 30 minutes to a lesson (travel bonus for longer travel).

Nice To Haves

Past experience teaching/tutoring AP US History.
Experience teaching AP World or AP European History.
Broad range of instructional experience in high school history and English.

Responsibilities

Academic planning and instruction
Conduct 60-120 minute private individual lessons in student homes, weekdays 4-10 pm, and/or weekends
Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent communication with parents and students
