AP History Tutor
About The Position
Top Score Education is seeking a part-time, one-to-one, in-home high school tutor in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, or Maryland. The role focuses on AP US History instruction; experience teaching or tutoring AP World History or AP European History is a plus. Tutors provide academic planning and instruction through private lessons in students’ homes and communicate consistently with students and parents. Lessons are 60–120 minutes and are scheduled on weekdays from 4–10 p.m. and/or weekends. A minimum commitment of eight teaching hours per week is required. The tutor must have consistent access to a car and be willing to drive up to 30 minutes to a lesson; a travel bonus is available for longer travel. Starting pay is $45–$65 per hour, with experienced tutors able to earn up to $80 per hour.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience tutoring or teaching AP US History is ideal; current or former AP US History classroom teachers are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to at least eight teaching hours per week.
- Consistent access to a car and willingness to drive up to 30 minutes to lessons.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow processes and communicate quickly, consistently, and directly.
- Commitment to ongoing collaboration with students, tutors, and the team.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with client families.
Nice To Haves

- Broad instructional experience in high school history and English courses.
