About The Position

As an Antenna Engineer (Automation), your core responsibility will be to drive characterization and verification of next-generation antenna products. You will design and own key performance indicators across a range of products and develop automated scripting and processes for collecting data. You will work with antenna engineers, RF engineers, test engineers, mechanical engineers, and others to meet needs across a wide range of antenna products. You will work on passive and active antennas for transmitters and receivers in bands ranging from 1GHz to 30GHz.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related
  • Experience writing scripts for wireless systems or hardware infrastructure testing
  • Experience developing KPI frameworks for antenna, RF, or electrical products
  • Proficient in testing and troubleshooting test setups and/or RF devices
  • 2+ years experience writing Python, LabView, TILE, or other automation software
  • Strong understanding of antenna parameters such as directivity, gain, efficiency, and axial ratio
  • Experience writing and documenting procedures for use by other engineers and technicians
  • Strong software debugging skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in research or development of antennas
  • Familiarity with 3D EM simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, COMSOL, or Cenos
  • Experience analyzing antenna systems in the lab (s-parameters, isolation, radiation patterns, propagation effects, etc)
  • Strong foundations in RF concepts such as impedance matching, s-parameters, microwave network analysis, and power handling
  • Experience writing motor control software
  • System-level antenna design and placement experience for desense mitigation
  • Experience working closely with mechanical and vehicle engineers to integrate antenna designs with brackets and other vehicle hardware
  • Experience in a start-up or agile development environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain antenna performance matrices (KPI frameworks) for passive and active antennas
  • Implement scripts to control RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, antenna pattern measurement infrastructure, power meters, power supplies, and other devices.
  • Plan and execute verification campaigns to evaluate early prototype device performance against desired specifications.
  • Analyze raw antenna pattern data to generate reports, detail compliance with internal and regulatory specs, and advise designers on improvement opportunities.
  • Design and implement fixtures to evaluate design compatibility with other satellite subsystems and coexistence across RF systems.

Benefits

  • stock options
  • medical coverage
  • vision coverage
  • dental coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
