About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Ansible Automation Engineer in Orlando, Florida for an approximately two-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Ansible while supporting Linux and Windows environments, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, container platforms, security, and operational monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience developing Ansible playbooks and reusable roles.
  • Advanced understanding of YAML and Jinja2, including templates, filters, variables, and conditional logic.
  • Experience building and maintaining static and dynamic Ansible inventories.
  • Strong Linux administration experience, including RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, and/or Alpine.
  • Experience with Linux package management, systemd, networking configuration, and security hardening.
  • Experience integrating Ansible with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience using Ansible with container and Kubernetes environments.
  • Strong experience with Git-based source-control workflows.
  • Experience integrating Ansible into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure Pipelines.
  • Experience testing and validating automation using tools such as Molecule, TestInfra, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with secrets-management technologies such as HashiCorp Vault, Ansible Vault, or cloud-based key-management services.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, subnets, firewalls, load balancers, and IP addressing.
  • Experience with Python and/or Bash scripting.

Nice To Haves

  • Windows automation experience using Ansible Windows modules and PowerShell.
  • Active Directory integration experience.
  • Experience with Pulumi or additional infrastructure-as-code platforms.
  • Experience automating Kubernetes cluster deployment and configuration.
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, or similar monitoring and observability platforms.
  • Experience supporting compliance, auditing, configuration control, and security-policy enforcement.
  • Experience creating custom Ansible modules or automation integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop idempotent Ansible playbooks and reusable automation roles.
  • Build dynamic configuration using YAML and Jinja2 templates.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible inventories, host variables, groups, and external integrations.
  • Automate configuration and administration of Linux environments.
  • Support Windows automation and PowerShell-based remediation where required.
  • Integrate Ansible with Terraform, CloudFormation, and other infrastructure-as-code technologies.
  • Automate container and Kubernetes configuration and deployment activities.
  • Maintain Ansible code in Git repositories using structured branching and pull-request workflows.
  • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop automated tests and validation workflows for infrastructure configuration.
  • Implement secure secrets-management practices.
  • Support system hardening, compliance validation, and audit requirements.
  • Integrate automation with monitoring and observability platforms.
  • Develop Python or Bash scripts to extend automation capabilities.
