About The Position

At ABB, we help industries run leaner and cleaner. This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager - NEMA. In this role, you will conduct all activities related to the handling of parts and semi-finished or final products in the warehouse or to/from the production line. Each day, you will be responsible for sorting and arranging material for storage as per guidelines. You will also perform other routine activities according to established procedures. The work model for the role is onsite and may involve working an off-shift and over time. Team members will be trained on all steps of the job. Stretching exercises will be done at the start of every shift. The supervisor will go over Job Safety Analysis sheets, Safety Checklist, required personal protective equipment (PPE) and instructions on daily clean up.

Requirements

  • Team Members are required to rotate at both ends during the shift.
  • Will receive electric pallet truck training.
  • Frequently lifting or moving heavy material, manually or with hoist.
  • Must inspect parts when loading and unloading for Quality purposes.
  • Furnace trays weigh approximately 50 pounds.
  • Three team members per furnace, one at the loading end and two at unloading end.
  • One Team Leader per shift.
  • Ability to understand and follow all ABB safety policies, safety training and hazard communication information.
  • Ability to lift and or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods of time and to keep up with the demanding pace of production.
  • Possess the dexterity and hand-eye coordination to utilize various hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete a variety of complex task.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read, write, use a calculator.
  • Must also have the ability to read and comprehend work orders, inventory tags, and shipping labels.
  • Ability to maintain regular work attendance, including arriving at work on time and remaining at work until the end of the schedules work day.
  • Ability to work daily and weekend overtime, including overtime on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all activities related to the handling of parts and semi-finished or final products in the warehouse or to/from the production line.
  • Sort and arrange material for storage as per guidelines.
  • Perform other routine activities according to established procedures.
  • Rotate at both ends during the shift.
  • Inspect parts when loading and unloading for Quality purposes.
  • Train new Annealing Team Members at the loading end on how to place furnace trays and hook them together on the conveyor.
  • Place skids of lamination that needs to be annealed at the loading end of the furnace.
  • Inform on the quantity and placement of the lamination on the trays.
  • Train on how to operate the overhead hoist and when to use it, which is determined by the wiring and weight of the stacks of lamination.
  • Fill in times in the logbook.
  • Fill in times when the furnace trays are loaded and waiting to go into the furnace.
  • Band and tag lamination that does not have to be annealed and move it to the shipping dock by the fork truck driver or the Team Leader.
  • Place a pallet and box according to stack height on the lift table.
  • Slam, roll & fan each stack of lamination according to the size of it on the Anvil table.
  • Pack lamination in boxes per work instructions.
  • Push the button and raise the lift table to dock height when a box is full.
  • Move the skid and box to the banding area on the loading dock with a pallet jack.
  • Place lid on box, label and band according to Work Instructions QWSL-A001.
  • Initial the label as being the packer.
  • Perform all essential functions in a manner that does not compromise their safety or the safety of coworkers.
  • Perform tasks for a minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week.
  • Understand and follow all ABB safety policies, safety training and hazard communication information.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as: safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, cut resistant gloves, and safety sleeves when required.
  • Frequently grip with hands, turn, push, and bend, along with occasional reaching above shoulder level, and pulling.
  • Walk and/or stand for long periods of time and keep up with the demanding pace of production.
  • Utilize various hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete a variety of complex tasks.
  • Comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Read, write, use a calculator.
  • Read and comprehend work orders, inventory tags, and shipping labels.
  • Maintain regular work attendance, including arriving at work on time and remaining at work until the end of the scheduled work day.
  • Work daily and weekend overtime, including overtime on short notice.
