As the Animal Facilities Care Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting the clinical and teaching missions of the Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). Reporting to the Animal Care Facility Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of small animal care services and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, sanitation, and regulatory compliance are maintained throughout the facility. In this role, you will lead and supervise animal care personnel while helping to create a safe, productive, and well-organized environment. You will oversee the cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of animal treatment areas, housing spaces, and holding facilities. You will monitor animals for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior and communicate observations to appropriate clinical personnel to support quality patient care. You will also ensure compliance with established hospital protocols and animal care standards. You will coordinate the stocking and inventory of supplies; oversee the collection, processing, and distribution of laundry; and ensure the proper collection and disposal of trash, biohazardous waste, and other regulated materials. Your leadership responsibilities will include hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating civil service and hourly employees. You will ensure adequate staffing levels and provide guidance and direction that support efficient facility operations. Additional responsibilities include performing or coordinating minor equipment repairs, maintaining operational records, and completing other duties as assigned in support of Veterinary Teaching Hospital operations.
