About The Position

The City of Huntsville’s Animal Services department is seeking qualified applicants to fill our Animal Services Officer position. This is enforcement work in Animal Services responsible for protecting, assisting, educating, catching, confining, caring for, and disposing of stray or diseased dogs or other wildlife animals in accordance with Animal Control Ordinances and State laws. Huntsville Animal Services provides sheltering, enforcement, and prevention services for Huntsville and the unincorporated areas of Madison County. In partnership with community organizations, Animal Services provides a safety net for lost and homeless pets and is committed to sustaining the City’s goal of finding live outcomes for at least 90 percent of the companion animals that enter the shelter each year.

Requirements

  • High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency
  • Some experience with domestic and wild animals
  • A valid driver's license
