About The Position

The Animal Health Technician - ARC, reporting directly to the Manager, oversees all aspects of technical services and operations of animal research facilities. This role supports the Manager with the daily operations of the HHSC Animal Facility. The position is responsible for the effective coordination and maintenance of all equipment. The incumbent will support the ARC manager with all applicable institutional Policies & Guidelines, Provincial and Federal legislation and guidelines. This position will support the manager in ensuring the care and management of animals, prioritizing animal health and welfare while supporting animal-based research. The incumbent will assist the ARC manager in maintaining effective communication with users of the facilities.

Requirements

• Minimum one year previous experience working with laboratory animals
• Previous experience working with wash area equipment, washer, autoclaves
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrated excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a flexible research environment

Nice To Haves

• RLAT Certification and/or Bachelor of Science Degree and/or Registered Veterinary Technician Certification preferred
