About The Position

St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation is currently seeking an experienced individual to oversee the daily operation and care for animals at Suson Park. Requirements

Six months experience working with animals in a veterinary environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Oversees and participates in the care of animals housed in a farm setting.
Maintains animal records and files including animal registrations, feed and supply needs, animal inventory, veterinarian visits, treatments, scheduling, and feed charts.
Maintains barn and pasture structures such as gates and fences, enclosures and equipment to ensure appearance and safety for the animals and the visiting public.
Feeds and waters animals to maintain health and appearance; cleans stalls to keep barns free from pests and infections.
Trains animals by halter breaking foals and calves for special events and allow for easier handling.
Transports and handles animals and equipment for demonstrations.
Provides basic care for sick or injured animals.
Estimates dates for animal breeding and deliveries; assists with birthing and weighing newborns.
Assists the veterinarian during routine visits; vaccinates animals for disease prevention; assists farrier with horse hoof maintenance.
Performs related work as required.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
