Animal Care Technician
About The Position
Provide care and maintenance for all animals by performing the following duties. Compassionate care is the top priority for all animals. Keeps kennels clean, orderly and free of odors. Ensures that kennel areas are clean, orderly and safe for animals. Feeds animals as scheduled and according to guidelines and make sure that have water at all times. Complies with specific feeding programs related to behavioral enrichment for specific animals. Ensures that animals have socialization daily. Exercises/socializes animals daily and abides by exercise program in place for each dog/cat. Documents necessary animal information for management or veterinary staff. Ensures the comfort and cleanliness of all animals. Bathes or cleans animals immediately if they become soled with urine, blood, or feces. Takes inventory of stock supplies as needed. Cleans laundry as needed. Advises Supervisor of any conditions that are unsafe including unrecognized hazards or infractions of safety rules.
Requirements
- Ability to treat animals with care and respect and feel comfortable socializing animals off leash
- Ability to assess animal heather conditions and to obtain blood samples and urine samples when needed
- Ability to work independently as well as be a team player
- Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction
- Ability to write legibly and read documents
- Two or more years animal care experience in a veterinary environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science preferred but not required
