Animal Care Technician
About The Position
The Orange County Animal Services Department has 2 openings for an Animal Care Technicians (ACT). The work involves performing skilled work in caring for the animals in the animal shelter and providing customer service to the public. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Animal Care Supervisor with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties. Supervision or leading others may be a responsibility of this class depending on the assignment. Does related work as required. Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply. This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required. Fitness for Duty Assessment required.
Requirements
- Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency
- Six (6) months of direct experience in providing direct animal care in a professional setting such as a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, boarding facility or farm
- Customer service experience in providing customer service in an animal care setting
- All offers of employment are conditioned upon successful clearance of a background check, drug screen and fitness test.
- Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
