Animal Care Technician

About The Position
Under the direction of the Animal Care Supervisor, this position is responsible for all aspects of shelter cleaning, animal care, laundry, and dishes to ensure shelter animals are provided with the highest quality of care and enrichment during their shelter stay. This position will be cross-trained to provide care for both feline and canine animals. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in animal welfare and shelter operations preferred
- Skilled in animal handling
- General knowledge of a variety of animal species and their health, care, and behavior
- Proficient in oral and written communication
- Proficient in computer usage and the use of basic computer programs
- Strong customer service background
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, manage time efficiently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, stressful setting
- Valid driver’s license
- Complete required NIMS level training within the first six months of hire
