This role performs routine and specialized duties associated with animal care, including feeding, medicating, cleaning, restraint, and transportation. It also involves maintaining supply and equipment inventory, observing animal behavior and conditions, collecting specimens, and providing technical assistance to research and veterinary personnel. The position includes performing minor repairs and maintaining the animal housing facility. Depending on the needs of the department, the role may involve training and supervising new technicians or driving utility vehicles to transport animals and supplies, requiring safe operation, daily inspection, and vehicle cleanliness. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
