About The Position

This position is responsible for the daily operational maintenance of the animal facilities and providing appropriate daily husbandry to various laboratory animal species in accordance with all training, guidelines, regulations, and SOPs pertaining to Laboratory Animal Care. Primary duties include performance of daily vivarium physical plant and animal husbandry & maintenance duties such as cage changing, cage washing, animal & supplies receipt, inventory control & stocking, and vivarium sanitation. The role requires the ability to lift 50 lbs, move heavy objects, work from a standing position for prolonged periods, and perform repetitive motion tasks. Availability to support weekend, holiday, emergency, and after-hour operational responsibilities is also required. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Daily operational maintenance of the animal facilities, including sanitization of animal rooms and corridors.
  • Providing appropriate daily husbandry to animals, predominantly rodents.
  • Consumable supplies inventory management.
  • Ordering and receipt of incoming animals and supplies.
  • Maintaining appropriate quality control documentation for relevant husbandry tasks and facility equipment.
  • Performing and/or providing collaborative support for cage wash operations, including cleaning and sanitizing cages and related equipment.
