About The Position

The Animal Care Technician PT position at Kitsap Humane Society is a part-time role focused on the direct care of animals within the shelter. This role is crucial for the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of thousands of animals annually. The Animal Care team is responsible for ensuring the well-being of all animals, whether they are strays or owner surrenders. This position is fundamental to the shelter's operations and requires a strong work ethic, flexibility, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • High school diploma / GED required.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Love of animals is necessary.
  • Comfortable handling all sizes and breeds of dogs and cats, including fearful and feral animals.
  • Willing to learn to vaccinate and de-worm dogs and cats.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Strong team player.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Available to work weekends and rotating holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional animal handling experience.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Sense of humor.

Responsibilities

  • Clean animal kennels.
  • Feed animals.
  • Move animals from one location to another within the shelter.
  • Assist with dog walking.
  • Assist with vaccinations.
  • Wash shelter animals’ dishes and laundry.
  • Fill in when needed in our Admissions department.
