About The Position

The Animal Care Technician FT position at Kitsap Humane Society is a full-time role focused on the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of animals. The role involves direct care for all animals in the shelter, including strays and surrendered pets. This position is fundamental to the organization's animal rescue efforts and requires collaboration with a team of staff and volunteers in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Kitsap Humane Society, founded in 1908, serves Kitsap County with a mission to provide life-changing solutions for people and animals, maintaining an open admissions policy, an extensive adoption program, and a low euthanasia rate.

Requirements

• High school diploma / GED required.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Good customer service skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Comfortable handling all sizes and breeds of dogs and cats, including fearful and feral animals.
• Willing to learn to vaccinate and deworm dogs and cats.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
• Strong team player.
• Outstanding attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Professional animal handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean animal kennels.
• Feed animals.
• Move animals from one location to another within the shelter.
• Assist with dog walking.
• Assist with vaccinations.
• Wash shelter animals’ dishes and laundry.
• Fill in when needed in our Admissions department.
