Texas Biomed is seeking an Animal Care Supervisor to oversee the daily activities of the macaque animal care team. This role involves planning work schedules, assigning tasks, coordinating workload, and providing priorities. The supervisor will coach, mentor, motivate, and lead assigned employees, influencing them to take positive action and be accountable for their responsibilities. They will also provide guidance and make recommendations concerning talent acquisition, employee relations, and performance management. This position will assist leaders in identifying opportunities to streamline, improve, and/or automate business processes while actively implementing changes as needed. Maintaining regular communication with leaders and reporting employees related to upcoming tasks and deadlines, and assisting as needed, is crucial. The supervisor will oversee the recording of data for daily reports such as husbandry records (sanitation, feeding, animal observations), clinical observations of animals, inventory reports, and other task-related reporting. A key responsibility is to assure that assigned staff follow and comply with standards of veterinary care and properly execute IACUC approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and research activities. Additionally, the supervisor will administer the animal care training program, which includes determining appropriate training, scheduling training sessions, and maintaining competency requirements.
