About The Position

The Animal Care Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator is an integral part of the shelter's mission to increase our live release rate through volunteer services, adoptions, rescues, and foster families. Under general direction, the incumbent organizes, directs and coordinates a variety of community outreach activities, events, and programs that include networking with other animal shelters; networks with and recruits volunteers and foster families; develops marketing, fund raising, and public relations publicity and events; and oversees the implementation of these functions in accordance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • One year of experience involving the coordination of a volunteer program and/or outreach/publicity activities.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, Class C.
  • Must receive pre-exposure rabies vaccination within three months of appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher in public administration, business administration, economics, accounting, biological sciences, animal sciences, or communications is desired and may be a factor considered during the rating and/or selection process.
  • Associate's degree is desired for this position.
