Requirements

  • A one-year certificate from a college or technical school is required, or three to six months of related experience and/or training.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that enables successful performance of the essential functions of the position will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor animal areas, facility systems, and life support systems overnight.
  • Conduct routine rounds of designated areas and observe for any changes or concerns.
  • Recognize and report changes in animal behavior, building systems, and equipment performance.
  • Identify patterns or irregularities in the collection, facility, sand life support systems.
  • Provide accurate status updates at shift change and communicate overnight system changes to managerial and other department staff.
  • Take appropriate corrective actions as needed or trained.
  • Work independently during overnight hours.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Animal Care.
  • Comply with all safety practices, Animal Care policies, practices, and procedures, employee handbook policies, and all applicable governmental and AZA standards.
