About The Position

Fortis Life Sciences is a global leader in life sciences and diagnostics reagents and solutions. We partner with our customers to design, validate, and manufacture solutions to solve their complex development problems. Our teams work together across various sites, functions, & scientific disciplines to help our customers bring their innovations to market with confidence. We are currently seeking an Animal Health Technician to join our team in Montgomery, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with animals and is looking to build a rewarding career in animal care, veterinary support, or the life sciences. The schedule for this position is onsite Monday-Friday, 6:00am-3:00pm. Overtime is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic understanding of animal care, including recognizing signs of sickness or injury
  • Understanding of safe animal-handling and blood-collection practices
  • Knowledge of safe tool and equipment operation after required training
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the health team
  • Follow instructions and established procedures
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Stand for extended periods, including throughout the workday
  • Lift and handle feed bags weighing 50+ pounds
  • Push or pull loaded dollies weighing approximately 200 pounds
  • Work in extreme hot and cold temperatures

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the Skills and Abilities listed below are very beneficial
  • Experience with minor plumbing and heavy machinery is very beneficial
  • Willingness to be trained, and become proficient, in the following skills

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain animal housing, facilities, and property using appropriate tools and equipment to ensure safe, orderly living conditions.
  • Learn and apply safe techniques for handling animals and collecting blood, including proper work around needles and blood.
  • Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal conditions and promptly report concerns to the health team.
  • Learn to safely operate assigned equipment and assist with minor plumbing, grounds, and equipment work when qualified.
  • Contribute to the team by following directions and protocols to provide excellent care for the animals, communicating effectively, and working cooperatively.
  • Maintain the assigned work schedule and participate in rotating overtime as required.
