Animal Care Associate - Full Time
About The Position
This position provides the highest quality care for the animals we serve, ensuring their health, wellbeing and appropriate handling. The Animal Care Associate will be responsible for providing humane care for sheltered animals and maintaining kennel facilities. This role involves thorough cleaning and sanitization of animal kennels and work areas, providing care, health, and handling of animals, and assisting with the coordination of kenneling and movement of animals. The associate will also interact with other departments, assist with medication delivery and treatment, monitor food and supplies, and maintain kennel signage and PPE requirements. Additional duties include assisting with contagion exposure management, prevention, and grooming, performing or assisting with equipment maintenance, contributing to process improvement initiatives, performing euthanasia and related tasks, and performing data entry for animal records. A key aspect of this role is acting as a resource for volunteers, providing training, coaching, and addressing concerns. The position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, both internally with employees at all levels and externally with the general public and business partners. Employees are expected to support a positive team environment, address conflict, and express concerns appropriately.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to effectively communicate and work within a team environment
- High attention to detail
- Ability to effectively practice time management and meet daily work deadlines without close supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to follow timelines for projects, accomplish multiple tasks, and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment

- Worked with animal data base systems for entering/updating animal records
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high noise volume, and high stress work environments
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize animal kennels and other work areas.
- Provide care, health, and handling of the animals.
- Assist with coordination of kenneling and movement of animals.
- Interact with other departments and assist with additional animal care services such as delivery of medication and treatment.
- Monitor and maintain food and supplies.
- Assist with monitoring kennel signage and room PPE requirements for appropriate and accurate usage.
- Assist with and coordinate contagion exposure management, contagion prevention, and accurate usage.
- Assist with and coordinate contagion exposure management, contagion prevention, and grooming tasks as needed.
- Perform or assist with maintenance of equipment.
- Contribute to and lead initiatives to improve processes and procedures.
- Perform euthanasia and related tasks.
- Perform data entry and documentation to update animal records.
- Act as a resource for volunteers by answering questions, providing training and coaching in the moment, and addressing concerns.
