About The Position

Under the supervision of the Animal Resource Manager, this position assists with the care of animals and facilities at Vet Tech. The Animal Care Assistant supports the veterinarians and veterinary technicians in ensuring quality veterinary care for all pets, advocates for pets, educates clients on all aspects of pet health, and ensures a safe and effective hospital environment. This position needs to be available to work weekends and some holidays. Must be punctual, reliable and courteous. This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek. CMC’s workweek is Saturday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position.
  • Examples may include a High School Diploma/GED and 1 year’s related work experience.
  • Must be a current student at Colorado Mountain College or a student who has graduated from the Vet Tech program.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and computing (including basic software and online searching ability).
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies.
  • A strong commitment to customer service.
  • Good communication skills (including English proficiency).
  • Exhibit exceptional verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Organize and prioritize work while exercising flexibility, teamwork, and humor.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
  • This position requires the employee to be a resident of the State of Colorado or obtain residency within 30 days of hire and perform all work duties within the state.
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of large animals is preferred but no required.
  • Knowledge of large animals preferred, but not necessary.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and maintenance of all animal enclosures.
  • Stocking of animal feed including heavy bags and bales of hay.
  • Grooming and cleaning of animals.
  • Grounds keeping for the facilities.
  • Weekend, weekday, and some holiday feeding of animals.
  • Cross training of all duties.
  • Other duties as assigned
