About The Position

Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) is seeking dedicated Anesthesiologists to join their newly formed, directly employed Department of Anesthesiology. This role offers an opportunity to work in a physician-led, collaborative environment focused on patient care, quality, and innovation. With the launch of an Anesthesiology Residency Program in July 2025, anesthesiologists will be involved in teaching, training, and mentoring. The position involves providing anesthetic care across a wide range of surgical specialties and ancillary services, with opportunities for regional anesthesia and collaboration with CRNAs. The role includes teaching and mentoring residents, with potential involvement in lectures, simulation, research, and academic development. The schedule is designed for work-life balance, with a favorable call schedule and a 50-hour per week clinical expectation.

Requirements

• MD or DO with board certification (or eligibility) in Anesthesiology.
• Strong clinical expertise across a broad case mix.
• Interest in academic medicine with a commitment to teaching and mentoring residents.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and patient-centered care.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in regional anesthesia.
• Cardiac anesthesia opportunities are available but not required; fellowship training and TEE certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthetic care for a wide array of cases, including OB, neurosurgery, thoracic, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, colorectal, and acute care surgery.
• Support a growing range of ancillary services, including advanced endoscopy, interventional radiology, and expanding electrophysiology.
• Participate in regional anesthesia.
• Collaborate with CRNAs, providing medical direction across all practice sites.
• Teach and mentor residents, with opportunities to participate in lectures, simulation, research, and academic development.
