About The Position

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking BC/BE anesthesiologists to join their team. This role involves working with top-tier surgeons and care teams across three facilities: Mary Washington Hospital (Level II Trauma Center), Stafford Hospital, and Fredericksburg Ambulatory Surgery Center. The practice offers a wide array of case mixes, including busy OB services, Neurosurgery, Thoracic, Healthy pediatrics, a robust orthopedic service, urology, gynecology, acute care surgery, and colorectal surgery. Growing ancillary services include advanced endoscopy, interventional radiology, and electrophysiology. Cardiac anesthesia is available but not required, with fellowship training and TEE certification preferred. The system performs nearly 300 pump and endovascular structural heart cases annually. Physicians will perform medical direction of CRNAs and have opportunities for academic involvement, including lectures, simulation, research, and resident mentorship with dedicated academic time. Nightly cardiac call is compensated.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Anesthesiology.
  • Board certification or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.
  • Strong clinical skills with a focus on patient-centered care and quality outcomes.
  • Experience with Level II Trauma designation preferred.
  • Strong regional experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac anesthesia experience.
  • Fellowship training in Cardiac Anesthesia.
  • TEE certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform medical direction of CRNAs.
  • Participate in lectures, simulation, research, and resident mentorship.
  • Provide expertise in a wide array of case mixes including OB, Neurosurgery, Thoracic, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology, Acute Care Surgery, and Colorectal surgery.
  • Engage in cardiac anesthesia cases (preferred but not required).
  • Handle approximately 300 pump and endovascular structural heart cases annually.
  • Work with growing ancillary services such as advanced endoscopy, interventional radiology, and electrophysiology.
