About The Position

WVUHS Medical Group seeks a board certified/board eligible Anesthesiologist to practice in Uniontown, PA. This is a bread-and-butter community hospital practice with strong surgical case mix and home call with in-house CRNA coverage 24/7. The practice model is a medical direction model with an average 3:1 CRNA supervision ratio. There is no solo room coverage, operating as a true care team model. The facility has 6 operating rooms and 2 GI/endoscopy suites. It also has a closed ICU staffed 24/7, located directly across from the OR suite, and an established pre-anesthesia testing program. The regional anesthesia program is growing. The case mix includes Orthopedic, general surgery, urology, GYN, GI/endoscopy, basic ENT, and cataracts. There are no cardiac, craniotomy, or complex pediatric cases. Clear transfer criteria are in place for high-acuity cases. Approximately 7,000 annual surgical and procedural cases are performed across the OR and endoscopy suites. Call is home call only, with a frequency of 1:4 to 1:5, and a CRNA in-house 24/7. Anesthesiologists are called in only as needed for after-hours surgical cases. The position offers 10 weeks total time off and a $5,000 annual CME allowance.

Requirements

MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent
Eligible for state medical license
Completed an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency program
Board certified/eligible in Anesthesiology
All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment

Responsibilities

Medical direction of CRNAs
Supervise CRNAs with an average 3:1 ratio
Practice in a care team model with no solo room coverage
Perform anesthesiology for a case mix including Orthopedic, general surgery, urology, GYN, GI/endoscopy, basic ENT, and cataracts
Participate in home call rotation (1:4 to 1:5 frequency)
Respond to after-hours surgical cases as needed during call
