Our Anesthesia team is growing here at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA! We're currently seeking a passionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at our brand new hospital! This role involves assisting in patient procedures, monitoring anesthesia, managing patient care from pre-op to recovery, and handling administrative tasks. Requirements

Knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures.
Ability to formulate anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Skill in monitoring anesthesia and troubleshooting complications.
Proficiency in intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
Ability to perform physical exams and accurately assess vital signs.
Understanding of normal vital parameters.
Experience setting up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.
Proficiency with medical math.
Ability to manage appointments, obtain histories, perform medical record keeping, invoicing, and patient discharges.
Comfortable with aseptic technique for fluid management.
Familiarity with operating various brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshooting errors.

VTS credentialing
Advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.

Responsibilities

Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
Perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.
Expand knowledge and skillset in advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
Take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery).
