About The Position

At NorthBay Healthcare, the Anesthesia Technologist coordinates with surgical staff and anesthesiologists to maintain the efficient operation of the anesthesia and surgery department. This role involves ordering and maintaining supplies, interacting with support departments to ensure anesthesia equipment and supplies are available for every operating room case, and performing daily maintenance and troubleshooting of anesthesia machines. The Anesthesia Technologist also provides ancillary support to anesthesiologists and performs surgery clerical duties as assigned. The position operates under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse IV, Perioperative Services, and requires the individual to seek and maintain up-to-date knowledge of anesthesia types, equipment, and supplies.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS certification required.
  • Knowledgeable of medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with physicians.
  • Basic Windows skills required.
  • Demonstrates appropriate priority decision making.
  • High level of initiative and must be able to work independently.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and accept direction in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with co-workers, physicians and the public.
  • Must be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a busy and fast-paced environment.
  • Actively engages in and supports a culture based on NorthBay Way principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Paramedic certification with two years of experience or two years of acute care anesthesia tech experience preferred.
  • Microsoft word, excel and Cerner knowledge preferred.
