About The Position

An Anesthesia Technologist I performs all the duties of the Anesthesia Technician. This role is responsible for supporting anesthesia care through the preparation and maintenance of equipment, assistance with patient monitoring, and adherence to safety protocols. It requires a foundational understanding of anesthesia procedures, equipment, and medications, and includes documenting clinical information, preparing emergency airway equipment, and supporting invasive line setup. The Technologist I also participates in quality assurance, training of new staff, and ongoing professional development activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and one (1) year of related healthcare experience as an Anesthesia Technician and competency-based evaluation.
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Capacity to logically and systematically search for the source of a problem and - makes the product or process operational.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques for preventing or stopping the spread of pathogens in hospitals, healthcare facilities, or the workplace.
  • Capability to use the universal language for describing the human body and its processes, medical conditions, diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and instructions throughout the patient care journey to ensure quality/safe care delivery and accurate medical billing.
  • Capability to use various medical equipment, technology, and clinical knowledge to monitor a patient's vital signs, physiological parameters, and other health indicators to identify potential issues early, contribute to accurate diagnoses and support effective patient care/treatment.
  • Capability to perform a set of specific strategies and protocols designed to make and maintain equipment and fields, such as operating and delivery rooms, and diagnostic areas, free from microorganisms during medical procedures to prevent infection.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and sets up equipment for various procedures
  • Assists the anesthesia provider in monitoring the vital signs of patients
  • Ensure the safe and efficient administration of anesthesia care.
  • May be required to accurately document patient information and procedures while adhering to all safety protocols and standards
  • May be tasked with preparing invasive line pressure transducers for use during anesthetizing procedures.
  • Sets up, calibrates, prepares, and maintains the anesthesia equipment utilized during these procedures.
  • May be required to prepare emergency airway equipment.
  • Requires participation in in-services, seminars, or other relevant educational programs.
  • Assist in the training of new employees and perform related responsibilities as required.
  • Adhere to principles of sterile technique and other infection control policies and standards to sustain a healthy work environment. Perform related responsibilities as required.
