About The Position

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as an Anesthesia Technician in the Department of Anesthesiology. In this role, you will support anesthesia providers by preparing equipment, maintaining supplies, and ensuring anesthesia work areas are ready to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity located at our Hyde Park campus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic patient care practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced perioperative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program.
  • Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.).
  • Previous experience in an acute care hospital or procedural setting.
  • Experience supporting anesthesia services in an operating room or procedural environment.
  • Experience in a Level I Trauma Center or academic medical center.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare anesthesia machines, monitors, and related equipment before surgical and procedural cases.
  • Perform operational checks, cleaning, and routine maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
  • Set up airway equipment, monitoring devices, rapid infusion systems, and specialty anesthesia equipment.
  • Assist anesthesia providers during routine and emergency procedures.
  • Stock anesthesia carts and procedural areas with necessary supplies.
  • Transport, clean, disinfect, and prepare anesthesia equipment according to infection prevention standards.
  • Maintain inventory of anesthesia supplies and communicate equipment or supply needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, CRNAs, nurses, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment maintenance and quality control.
  • Participate in department meetings, education, competency validation, and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient anesthesia work environment.
