About The Position

Banner Health is seeking an Anesthesia Technician for an evening shift opportunity at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. This role is crucial for supporting anesthesia providers and OR staff by managing the care and maintenance of anesthesia supplies and equipment. Responsibilities include stocking anesthesia carts and workrooms, preparing IVs and invasive lines, setting up and turning over operating rooms, cleaning and restocking equipment, and ensuring adequate levels of anesthesia medications. The position involves working collaboratively with various healthcare professionals and requires a commitment to patient care and safety. North Colorado Medical Center is a 378-bed Level II trauma center with a long history of providing advanced healthcare services to its region.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • 1 to 2 years of related healthcare experience.
  • Employees hired after 1/1/2024 must complete the anesthesia technician academy within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily handling of staff needs regarding anesthesia gas machines, anesthesia monitoring equipment and non-controlled medications.
  • Stocking of the anesthesia workroom, anesthesia carts, non-controlled medications, and anesthesia supply closets in each OR.
  • Preparing IVs and invasive lines.
  • Setting up the rooms and assisting with room turnovers.
  • Collection of used equipment and cleaning of equipment.
  • Restocking anesthesia supplies and surgical supplies.
  • Assists with preparing equipment such as ventilators, suction, airway equipment, and fluid/body warmers.
  • Assembles transducers, invasive lines, rapid fluid infusers, and specialty trays.
  • Assists anesthesia personnel with setup and insertion of invasive monitoring lines, catheters, temporary pacemakers and hemodynamic monitoring including cardiac outputs.
  • Assists with transporting and positioning patients.
  • Maintains adequate levels of anesthesia medications, restocks drug drawers, monitors drug charges, and communicates variances to medical and nursing personnel.
  • Monitors drug expirations and opened vial for outdates.
  • Handles anesthesia agents and cylinder gases.
  • May provide business support to the department including performing administrative tasks.
  • Anticipates the needs of patients and anesthesia staff based on scheduled procedures, patient age and condition.
  • Listens and communicates detailed issues.
  • May require assisting in other areas which administer anesthesia.
