About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician 2 is a full-time staff position responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, disinfecting, ordering, and maintaining routine anesthesia equipment and supplies. This role also involves maintaining anesthesia medications, cleaning and organizing the anesthesia workroom, and preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems. The technician will perform basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment, maintain quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards, and document preventative maintenance. Additionally, the position assists with patient transport and laboratory specimens, travels between facilities, and builds effective working relationships with the anesthesia department staff and other healthcare professionals. Adherence to University and unit-level policies and procedures is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders, and maintains routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains anesthesia medications according to facility’s needs.
  • Cleans, organizes, and maintains anesthesia workroom.
  • Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra, and post anesthesia, while taking into consideration age-specific issues.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment and reports defective equipment and malfunctions to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Documents preventative maintenance and preserves quality records.
  • Assists with transport of patients and laboratory specimens and travels between facilities or other treatment locations.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with anesthesia department staff, and works collaboratively with nurse circulators, and surgical, service, and equipment technicians.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
