About The Position

The Anesthesia Tech plays a critical role in supporting anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency. This position involves the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of anesthesia machines and related devices before, during, and after surgical procedures. The Anesthesia Tech is responsible for monitoring equipment functionality and assisting in the management of anesthesia supplies inventory. They collaborate closely with the surgical team to facilitate smooth anesthesia delivery and respond promptly to any technical issues that arise. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall success of anesthesia administration and patient care in the operating room environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Familiarity with anesthesia equipment and operating room protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure clinical environment.
• Technical skills daily to set up and maintain sophisticated anesthesia machines and monitors, ensuring they operate flawlessly during procedures.
• Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff to anticipate needs and respond to equipment issues swiftly.
• Attention to detail is critical when inspecting equipment and managing inventory to prevent any lapses that could compromise patient safety.
• Problem-solving skills are frequently applied to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions under time-sensitive conditions.
• Adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols requires discipline and thorough knowledge, ensuring a sterile and secure environment for patients and staff.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of an accredited Anesthesia Technology program or equivalent training.
• Certification as an Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or equivalent credential.
• Experience working in a hospital or surgical center setting.
• Advanced certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Strong knowledge of infection control standards and sterilization techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex anesthesia equipment issues.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, inspect, and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies to ensure proper functioning and readiness for surgical procedures.
• Assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists during the induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia by providing necessary equipment and technical support.
• Monitor anesthesia machines and related devices throughout procedures to detect and resolve any malfunctions or irregularities promptly.
• Manage inventory of anesthesia supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper sterilization of reusable equipment.
• Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment, adhering to all safety and infection control protocols.
