About The Position

This team member will be cross trained to support anesthesia and the operating room/OR. Demonstrates through clinical practice a clear understanding of aseptic techniques and has a working knowledge of the specialized equipment and supplies utilized by the Anesthesiologist/Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA). Participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team. The primary focus of this position is patient, specimen and equipment transport, O.R. sanitation and assistance with maintenance of unit supply levels. The surgery department is located on the second floor of tower A and provides comprehensive care on a 24-hour, 7-day week basis. Dr. P. Phillips surgery provides intraoperative services for patients requiring Orthopedic, Neurological, General, Burn, Cardiovascular, Endo, Gastroenterology, Vascular, Gynecological, Urology, ENT, Hematology, Nephrology, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Thoracic, and robotic services with our 10 OR suites.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of Periop, OR, or Anesthesia Tech experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Restocks the anesthesia supplies, equipment and drugs in the operating room after each case.
  • Maintains and assures adequate inventory levels of anesthesia supplies in departmental service areas and is responsible for ordering these supplies.
  • Cleans and maintains the equipment utilized in the delivery of anesthetic service.
  • Sets up all invasive monitoring lines as requested by anesthesia.
  • Responds and assists Anesthesiologist/CRNA with all perioperative anesthesia emergencies.
  • Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills defined by the Surgical Services specific competency list.
  • Communicates appropriate information to the Anesthesiologist/CRNA and perioperative nursing staff.
  • Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
  • May have limited access to areas storing medications.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
