About The Position

Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital is seeking candidates with a background in periop, surgery, or procedural areas for the Anesthesia Tech position. This role involves supporting anesthesia and the operating room/OR. The team member will demonstrate a clear understanding of aseptic techniques and have a working knowledge of specialized equipment and supplies used by the Anesthesiologist/Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA). The primary focus includes patient, specimen, and equipment transport, OR sanitation, and assisting with maintaining unit supply levels. The surgery department provides comprehensive care on a 24-hour, 7-day week basis, offering intraoperative services for a wide range of specialties including Orthopedic, Neurological, General, Burn, Cardiovascular, Endo, Gastroenterology, Vascular, Gynecological, Urology, ENT, Hematology, Nephrology, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Thoracic, and robotic services across 10 OR suites.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of Periop, OR, or Anesthesia Tech experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Restocks the anesthesia supplies, equipment and drugs in the operating room after each case.
  • Maintains and assures adequate inventory levels of anesthesia supplies in departmental service areas and is responsible for ordering these supplies.
  • Cleans and maintains the equipment utilized in the delivery of anesthetic service.
  • Sets up all invasive monitoring lines as requested by anesthesia.
  • Responds and assists Anesthesiologist/CRNA with all perioperative anesthesia emergencies.
  • Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills defined by the Surgical Services specific competency list.
  • Communicates appropriate information to the Anesthesiologist/CRNA and perioperative nursing staff.
  • Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
  • May have limited access to areas storing medications.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
