About The Position

NYU Langone Health is seeking an Anesthesia Tech III to join their team. This role is responsible for stocking anesthetic supplies for operating rooms, maintaining and ensuring the availability of anesthetic equipment, and assisting clinicians with patient care. The position involves supporting anesthesia procedures, managing equipment, ensuring adequate supplies, and maintaining gas systems. The successful candidate will also assist with training other technicians and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a one-year Anesthesia Technician program or certification from anesthesia technology program with 5 years experience.
  • Must be able to read, write, follow instructions.
  • Certification in BLS-C required.
  • Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Experience in staff development and training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Stocking anesthetic supplies for ORs.
  • Maintaining anesthetic equipment.
  • Ensuring anesthetic equipment is available.
  • Assisting clinicians with patient care during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia.
  • Assisting with the placement of regional anesthetics and invasive monitoring devices.
  • Assisting with pain blocks, epidurals, spinals, line placement, and patient positioning.
  • Assisting with transporting patients.
  • Following directives and protocols.
  • Communicating with circulating nurses.
  • Responding to Codes in line with duties.
  • Calibrating and running Quality Control and Quality Assurance analysis on anesthesia machines.
  • Calibrating and troubleshooting anesthesia machines.
  • Setting up Level I RIS, syringe pumps, capnographs, TEG and TEEs.
  • Setting up intravenous, central venous, arterial, pulmonary artery catheters using sterile techniques, percutaneous introducer kits, double lumen kits, triple lumen kits, long arm CVP kits, chest tubes, ARNDT blockers, univent tubes, trans-tracheal intubations, fiberoptic scopes, LMAs, tube changers, jet ventilation and resuscitation bags.
  • Clearing debris and equipment from the surface and drawers of used anesthesia machines.
  • Ensuring the sterility and cleanliness of all machines.
  • Performing all standard procedural checks on equipment.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Making minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
  • Informing Engineering and supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Checking machine drawers to ensure they are well stocked.
  • Making available fluids, Lactated Ringers, Plasma Lite, Normal Saline, Hespan, Flextend, FFP, Whole Blood and Albumin.
  • Disposing of supplies used in regular and contaminated cases.
  • Ensuring the medical pipeline is operational, including N2O, O2 and Medical Air.
  • Checking the status of nitrous oxide, nitrogen and carbon dioxide cylinder banks to determine available supply pressure.
  • Replacing empty cylinders.
  • Assisting with the training of Anesthesia Technicians.
  • Apprising supervisor of performance of Anesthesia Technicians.
  • Ensuring workroom areas are clean and orderly before, during, and after each shift.
  • Performing other related duties as requested.
