About The Position

This role entails assisting the anesthesiology staff within the operating room to facilitate patient care. The employee should understand and share in the YNHHS Vision, support our Mission, and live our Values: integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 12 months as a clinical technician, PCA, CNA, TA, pharmacy technician preferred.
  • BLS required within 3 months of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to tolerate high stress areas of work.
  • Basic computer skills are required to perform daily tasks in OR applications to include email, RFID equipment tracking system and Epic status board.
  • Ability to achieve competence in all required skills after completion of department training program, including passing departmental competencies.
  • Good interpersonal skills in order to participate as a member of the Perioperative Support staff.
  • The ability to perform tasks of physical endurance and dexterity as required.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, using consistent use of proper body mechanics.
  • All duties require pushing, pulling lifting, bending and standing.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Exposure to biohazards and handling of bodily fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Associates degree in Biological Sciences.
  • Factory approved training in basic trouble shooting for anesthesia machines, physiologic monitors, blood gas machines, and rapid infusers preferred.
  • Operating room experience and technical background is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with turnover, including the changing and cleaning of anesthesia disposables and non-disposables.
  • Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment to ensure functionality and safety during procedures.
  • Maintains difficult airway equipment, trauma room setups, and ensures readiness for emergency situations.
  • Decontaminates, cleans, and sterilizes echocardiogram transducers, ensuring compliance with clinical sterilization and documentation protocols.
  • Consistently follows through on commitments, ensuring that all tasks are completed with attention to clinical detail and patient safety.
