About The Position

This position manages, integrates, and coordinates the daily operations of the University, Memorial and Hahnemann campuses, including direct supervision of all technical personnel, assignments, and quality control programs. The Anesthesia Support Manager is responsible for providing direct technical support including the proper assembly and functioning of anesthesia equipment and the performance of laboratory tests. They are also responsible for organizing in-services on equipment and basic lectures to residents.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Business or Healthcare or equivalent experience in specialized field.
  • Certification in Anesthesia (ASATT).
  • Minimum of three years as an Anesthesia Technician.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in an operating room where high risk level cases are done (e.g. cardiac surgery, transplantation, trauma, and transportation of ICU patients).
  • Prior demonstrated ability in management or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates communication skills (both oral and written) necessary to interact with all levels of hospital staff.
  • Working knowledge of the maintenance of anesthesia machines, anesthetic vaporizers, ventilators, spirometers, breathing circuits, and other related equipment.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with other departments and personnel.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams to ensure team success.
  • Knowledgeable in LEAN techniques and utilize those principles in process improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assures the efficient daily operation of the department including appropriate staffing, appropriate use of supplies, workflow, and productivity to meet patient needs and manage budget.
  • Monitor’s competence of staff and ensures education to complete required competencies.
  • Monitors continuing education participation.
  • Works with individuals as necessary to improve.
  • Chooses goals, projects, and sets priorities based on alignment with system goals.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and revision of departmental policies, procedures, and objectives to guide and support the delivery of service.
  • Oversees direct technical support during operative procedures, and shall understand and assist with the following: Anesthetic Delivery Systems, Airway Management Equipment, including fiberoptic, Cardiovascular (ECG, Arterial pressure, Central Venous pressure, Pulmonary Artery pressure) monitoring, Central nervous system (ICP, NIRS technology) monitoring, Respiratory physiologic monitors (Capnography, Pulse oximetry and Blood gas analyzers), Digital and mechanical infusion pumps, Peripheral nerve stimulators, Temperature monitors, fluid/blood warmers, and Point of Care Ultrasound equipment.
