About The Position

Operates, assesses, coordinates, calibrates, and maintains all equipment within the department. May serve as a resource and provides assistance, training, and instruction to other staff in areas concerning specialty equipment. Assists licensed Anesthesia Providers in the acquisition, preparation, and application of equipment and supplies for anesthesia administration. Provides support for routine and complex surgical cases. Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during, and after anesthesia.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Other operating room equipment operations or related healthcare experience Required
  • 2 years Anesthesia tech, equipment tech or surgical technician/technologist Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification, Current Basic Life Support Required
  • Stealth Certification 1 Year Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associates in healthcare, electronics or equivalent Preferred
  • Certified Surgical Technician - Certification, /Technologist Preferred
  • Anesthesia Technician - Certification, Certified Anesthesia Technician by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) Preferred
  • Certification by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensures equipment is ready for use at the time of need in the specialty area.
  • Operates, inspects, troubleshoots, and calibrates equipment in the specialty area, including Anesthesia Machines, Difficult Airway Equipment, Vital Sign Monitors, Stealth Navigation, Lasers, Hana Tables, Phaco/Vitrectomy Machines, Robotic, Cell Saver, Video towers, and other related integration equipment or new technology.
  • Coordinates and schedules preventative maintenance and service (vendor and when appropriate, other technicians) via management of customer expectations.
  • Performs device investigations related to regulations and/or incident reporting and reports all safety concerns.
  • Responds to crisis/emergency situations involving equipment.
  • Assists licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation, and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia.
  • Provides support for licensed anesthesia providers for routine and complex surgical cases.
  • Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during, and after anesthesia.
  • May operate, under supervision, a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment used to monitor, evaluate, and manage the patient undergoing anesthesia.
  • Maintains, in collaboration with the Biomed department, an accurate equipment inventory in the specialty area.
  • Participates in trialing, procurement, and placement coordination of equipment used in the specialty area through vendor liaison and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Facilitates daily equipment prep, maintenance, repairs as needed, floats to various areas of specialty to support the business need of the departments, and coordinates equipment changes during turnovers.
  • May assist the licensed anesthesia provider with evaluations, transport, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management.
  • Provides customer relations and interfaces with multiple departments' logistics, resolves specialty equipment service problems by ensuring that clinical capability is restored as quickly as possible.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on applicable specialty equipment, accessories, and supplies in the area of specialty.
  • Cleans, assembles, sterilizes, disinfects, stocks, orders, and maintains the routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.
  • All other duties as assigned.
