Anesthesia Aide: Anesthesiology
About The Position
The Anesthesia Aide is responsible for the care, cleaning, and handling of anesthesia equipment. This role involves taking inventory, ordering, and stocking anesthesia carts within the department. The aide is responsible for coordinating and assembling anesthesia carts, which includes inventory management, restocking, and proactively identifying supply/drug needs. They will assist with the morning/daily setup of Operating Rooms for anesthesia requirements, place orders for supplies, and receive incoming orders. A strong understanding of blood and body fluid precautions, disinfection techniques, and sterilization documentation (including biological testing and chemical indicators) is essential. The Anesthesia Aide will also perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of surgical terminology, instrumentation, and supplies.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, blood and body fluid precautions, disinfection techniques, and methods of sterilization.
- Two years recent O.R. experience with knowledge of the basic technical aspects of general, regional and pediatric anesthesia and aseptic technique.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of manufacturer’s training program for anesthesia machine and ventilator maintenance and repair.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification.
