About The Position

Android Test Engineer Description - HP RIS offers products with Android OS and HP value add software. This role is responsible for ensuring that the products will meet the customer needs as laid out in the program goals. The role will create and execute testing of HP Peripherals on Android, HP Provisioning tools, OTA features and OEMConfig. The role will review XTS and manual testing conducted by suppliers to ensure completeness and appropriate disposition of anomalies. The engineer will be able to run critical XTS testing in Houston in support to reproduce and troubleshoot XTS issues. Across all test endeavors, the role will work closely with engineering to reproduce issues, run experiments to find root cause and demonstrate effective issue resolution. The role works as a part of cross-functional project teams and contributes to the development and execution of products with moderate complexity, showcasing innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Requirements

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 2-4 years of work experience, preferably in debug and validation, or a related field or an advanced degree with little or no work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in reviews of requirements, available design data and test plan development.
  • Designs portions of engineering solutions to test and evaluate systems, equipment, and devices based on established engineering principles and specifications.
  • Collaborates with team of other engineers to validate the engineering solutions, test strategy, product design and methodologies.
  • Builds testing tooling, fixtures, scripts, automation, and apparatuses based on provided specifications.
  • Develops and implements test plans, schedules, and requirements for subsystems of new and existing designs.
  • Monitors yield data for test and product issues while implementing continuous test enhancements to ensure quality of product.
  • Applies professional expertise, exercises judgment, and resolves various issues by following company policies and procedures.
  • Works with senior engineers on root cause remediation with regards to systemic hardware, equipment and devices found during the tests; develops and executes reliable, cost effective and high quality test solutions.
  • Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced testing and development partners.
  • Develops conclusions, recommendations, and written reports, contributing proactively through research and data analysis support, and sharing knowledge to foster a knowledge management culture.
